Mega Countdown Monday: Kirby's Abilities

Welcome back to Channel Surfin'!

Now, I'm well aware that Monday's can be really boring and just a tad drab. That's why I decided to try something a little light-hearted. Every Monday, I will be posting a Top 5 Countdown. These countdowns will all come from the TV, film and video games category.

This countdown will be coming from the Kirby series. The little pink puff-ball has spanned across many different video game consoles. With each new console, he has taken on new and different forms each and every time. So, without further ado, let's take a look at the Top 5 Kirby Powers.

5. Wheel

Wheel Kirby is a handy ability for when you need to cover great distances. Able to transform into the shape of a wheel at will, Kirby will then speed across the landscape, following the linear path. As he travels along, every enemy he comes into contact with will be damaged. Be careful though, for if he collides with an obstacle, he will stop abruptly and transform back into his original self.

4. Fire

The Fire ability is another handy copy attack that Kirby can use. Spanning across multiple games, it follows the same concept. Grab the ability, breathe out fire damaging enemies in the process. Over time though, this has been improved to the point where Kirby can even set himself on fire, creating a mini fire shield that hurts enemies who come in contact with him. With the added addition to melt ice as well, it is a very useful ability.

3. Whip

The Whip ability is an ability that is useful when quickly dealing damage to your opponent. Donning a cowboy hat and a whip, Kirby can attack with his whip multiple time in quick succession, rapidly hurting his enemies in the process. Appearing in a number of games, the Whip is becoming a common feature. With the added ability to even grab enemies and throw them away in any direction, it is a very handy copy ability for when you need to get out of a sticky situation in a pinch.

2. UFO

The UFO ability has been an ability that has also spanned across a number of games. It is one of the most versatile copy abilities, boasting the skill to continuously hover mid-air, no matter where it is. It also has another unique feature with it's primary attack. The attack varies on how long you press the attack button. For example, a quick tap will shoot out a simple beam shot, whilst if you hold the button for a while, it will steadily grow to become larger and more powerful. Because of these two unique features, the UFO is considered to be one of the rarest abilities, only appearing in a few areas for each game.

1. Sword

Bet you weren't expecting the sword ability, but here's why it's one of Kirby's best abilities. The Sword ability is able to perform a number of different combos to attack enemies. Coming from humble beginnings, the Sword has been present within each and every game, and with each new game, a new feature has been added to the sword. In the past, it used to be a simple swipe. Nowadays, you can perform a flurry of attacks, an upward slice, a falling strike, a powered up slice, a dash slice and can even be used underwater. While it may seem like the most basic move, when used correctly though, it can be the most deadly.

So, there you have it. The Top 5 Kirby Copy Abilities. Were you expecting Sword to be number 1? If it was a bigger list, there would've been more. But, best to keep it to 5 so as not to make it too long. I hope you enjoyed today's countdown, and the very first countdown. There will be more to come later on in the future, so stay tuned for more posts.
